2007  Pinot Noir

The grapes for the 2007 Pinot Noir came from a vineyard at the southern foot of Twin Sisters where it benefits from the cooler breezes of the bay. The wine was aged for 6 months in French Oak barrels prior to bottling. The 2007 Pinot Noir is a fruit forward wine, with just the right amount of oak and acidity for balance. The vineyard location for this wine is at the base of the hills to the right side of Larry’s driveway and on the other side of the canal. Just below the bald spot in the hill.

The grapes for this limited production, Martini Clone Pinot Noir, were selected from our Scarlett Ranch vineyard which sits unprotected by the hills and benefits from the cool breeze of the San Francisco Bay.

Winemaking Notes

Upfront cherry aromas lead the way, added notes of white smoke, cedar and vanilla develop in the nose. Cassis and leather are prevalent in the mid-bouquet with a whisper of bay leaves and anise at the close. Palate follows nose with more cherries, and lots of them. Mid-palate features black currant flavors. Vanilla and spice develop in the jammy finish.

Pairs Well With

Nonna's Pasta With Clams
  • 4 6 oz Cans Minced Clams w/ Juice
  • 6 Tbsp Cube Butter
  • 4 Cloves Garlic (Pressed)
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 3 Tbsp Flour
  • 3 Tbs Chopped Parsley
  • 1 1lb Package Pasta (Preferably Taliagrini)
  • 1/4 Parmesan Cheese
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions:

Sauté butter, garlic and onion slowly (do not brown) until cooked. Add flour and stir until mixture is well blended. Stir in Clam Juice and parsley let cook at medium heat until slightly thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste. While sauce is thickening cook pasta following package directions. When sauce is almost done add clams.


Drain Pasta and mix in clam sauce. Top with Parmesan cheese.


This family favorite is a perfect accompaniment with the Lanza Family Pinot Noir.
